Past Projects

(as of July '02)

  • May '00 - Established a FTP server running on my NT Server at home.

  • May '00 - Installed, Configured, and Setup Windows 2K Srv to act as a firewall and router. (tested for 3 days).

  • Oct. '01 - Setup wireless 802.11b connection with a Pringles Can Antenna on one side. Obviously, the Pringles can antenna was built by me and my brother-in-law.

  • Jan. '02 - Running Win2k Srv. as a Mail [Merak Mail], WebMail [IceWarp Web Mail], FTP [IIS], Web Server [IIS] for multiple domains using virtual hosts.

  • Jan '02 - Set up monitoring 24/7 [5 minute intervals during peak, 30 during off-peak] of all domains and smtp, pop, and imap access for the Operation Email Project.. Any failures results in an e-mail to me.

  • Feb. '02 - Setup anti-virus scanning and RBL [real time black hole list] on my mail server for the Operation Email Project.

  • March '02 - Wireless (802.11b) bridging 2 networks between 2 apartments 3 blocks away. Built a server with a wireless NIC and an Ethernet card, which routed traffic to the Ethernet which connected to an AP (RG-1000).

  • March '02 - Network Monitoring setup to send text messages to my phone in case of problems.

  • 2003 - Standalone wireless (802.11b) repeating with 2 APs, RG-1000s.
  • 2003 - SSL FTP Server - Working on setting one up. Testing on alternate ports.
  • 1996-2003 - RC5 Distributed Computing Project - using idle computers' processing time to crack an encrypted phrase using the brute force method.
  • 2004 - Setup secure web based e-mail form and for use on my webserver. I use to have it, but it was removed for security issues (SPAM and open relay issues).
